Improving Shoulder Mobility

What can you do to improve your shoulder mobility? Try this activation exercise!

Our client Joe has really mastered this excellent drill called the Prone Swimmer.

If you’re like Joe, you may find that stretching your arms and shoulders doesn’t really help improve the mobility of the joints. By doing exercises to help with these issues, you’ll find that your muscles loosen up and becoming increasing flexible.

What you probably need is to activate the postural and scapular muscles of the shoulders.

The Prone Swimmer is one of our favourite drills to do just that. Try adding it to your warm-up or in between your exercises sets to make your shoulders resilient.

It’s really important to breathe and move slowly to get the most benefits.

You’ll probably find that over time, your mobility will improve with no stretching required.

Filmed a while back - thank you Joe for this awesome demonstration!

Give this drill a try and let us know in the comments how it goes 😊

Always remember, motion is lotion. We encourage you to Move Well, Live Well™.

If you’re interested in moving, feeling and/or performing better, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’d be happy to help.
